Project Scope: Balaa Dam, currently under construction under the guidance of Khatib and Ahlami / Artelia, marks a significant advancement in water resource management. Situated in Balaa – Batroun Caza, this project entails the construction of an artificial lake with a capacity of 1,700,000m3 and a treatment plant downstream of the dam. Once completed, it will be pivotal in providing potable water to nearby towns and supporting existing irrigation projects, underscoring our commitment to sustainable infrastructure development.

Project Scope: The Jurd Akkar Water Infrastructure Development project, overseen by the Council for Development and Reconstruction and expertly engineered by Bureau Technique pour le Developpment, aimed to address critical water supply needs in the region. From constructing pumping stations and reservoirs to laying distribution networks, every aspect was meticulously planned to ensure efficient and reliable water supply to the communities of Michmich, Wata Michmich, Hrar, Dinbo, and beyond.

Project Scope: Under the guidance of Dar Al Handasah, the project involved constructing roads, quays, and utility services infrastructure. Every aspect, from main gates to stormwater networks, was meticulously planned and executed to enhance operational efficiency and accommodate larger vessels. Additionally, the project included the construction of container pavements and high mast lighting systems, further enhancing the port’s capabilities and safety standards.

11. Chabrouh Dam

Chabrouh Dam

Project Scope: From 2002 to 2007, Mouawad meticulously executed various aspects of this project, including road works, industrial building construction, and electromechanical installations. The dam, standing at 70m, required extensive excavation and backfilling, amounting to 705,000m3 and 1,612,000m3 respectively. Moreover, our team successfully executed deep sound excavation, tunnel work, and the construction of a potable water treatment plant with an average flow capacity of 60,000m3/day, showcasing our commitment to excellence in infrastructure development.

Project Scope: This project involved the construction of a 75m underpass along Chiyah Boulevard, facilitating two-way traffic flow. With an overall length of 600m, the underpass was accompanied by developing secondary roads and ancillary works, including diaphragm walls, drainage systems, lighting, sewage, potable water, electromechanical installations, and road safety devices.

From laying ductile iron and HDPE pipes to implementing advanced water metering systems, every aspect was meticulously executed to ensure efficiency and reliability. The project also included significant asphalt and hardscape works, further enhancing the city’s infrastructure.

Project Scope: In collaboration with Solidere s.a.l., Mouawad played a crucial role in the Normandy Landfill Reclamation Project. From 1999 to 2004, our team executed extensive earthworks and environmental works, handling material handling and excavation with precision. The landfill, covering approximately 20 hectares, required meticulous excavation and presorting processes to ensure effective reclamation.

16. Beirut Central District Project Overview

Project Scope: The Beirut Central District project, completed in 1999, involved extensive construction works to enhance infrastructure and urban development. The project encompassed the construction of roads, bridges, underpasses, and various supporting electromechanical services. Additionally, the scope included the installation of culverts and networks for water, stormwater, sewage, and civil works for electromechanical utilities.
Key Achievements:
• Construction of 21km of roads with widths ranging from 7m to 40m), involving excavation, backfilling, asphalting, curbs, marking, highway signing, and installation of traffic signals.
• Development of 3 underpasses in reinforced and prestressed concrete, spanning 10.50m and 40.00m.
• Implement tunnels (1.5 km) using cut and cover method in reinforced concrete.

Every aspect of the project was meticulously executed, from earthworks to constructing reinforced concrete culverts to improve connectivity and safety. The inclusion of utilities and services and meticulous asphalt and road marking works further solidified the road’s significance in the region’s infrastructure network.
